READ BELOW FOR WAYS THAT YOU CAN SUPPORT LUKE AND NOAH! Updated on 2/14 with new ideas and information Please keep this effort positive and note our appreciation for what ATWT, Van, and Jake have done so far. We want to let the producers know that we're here to support them in developing Luke and Noah's story further. Thanks so much! Please help with as many of the efforts below as you can. Every bit helps. If you propose new ideas in this thread, I'll add it to the list. It'd be great if you could volunteer to own specific efforts such as contacting an organization. Luke and Noah has the best fan base ever. We have great ideas and pulled together for the holiday project. I can't wait to see what we accomplish. Go Nuke! ![]() 1. Write to P&G and CBS in support of Nuke's story. Keep the focus on Luke and Noah's story and Van and Jake's contributions, NOT the fact that Van asked us to support it, as our sentiments would be the same even if he had not. Many people have suggested that we keep the letters largely positive for now and encourage them to increase the air time while maintaining the quality of the story. We could also mention the incredibly long list of awards received by Luke, Noah, Van, and/or Jake this year, which Roger compiled. Write to both P&G (higher priority) and CBS and include a Hershey's Kiss with your letters as part of the Kiss Campaign. Please visit the excellent web site created by Richard for tips on writing a letter and more information. Spread the word by pointing people to that URL. Ron has created stationery for the Kiss Campaign: Word | PDF. Web Site: http://lukeandnoah.wetpaint.com/page/Support+Luke+and+Noah Kiss Campaign: http://www.afterelton.com/node/12508 Keep It Simple, Stupid! (KISS): http://z13.invisionfree.com/vanhansis/inde...?showtopic=4649 (letter writing tips) Brian T. Sign the online petition in support of Luke and Noah. Owner: AuntieT822 This is easier than writing a letter. We'll get signatures from a much broader group of people including non-fans. This is NOT a substitute for writing letters to P&G. Online Petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Luke_and_Noah/index.html 3. Write to ATWT producers and CBS online. Thank them for their support of Luke and Noah's story. CBS might be able to apply a bit of pressure from their side. You might mention that this letter writing to P&G is underway. If you have time, it'd be helpful to write to both CBS executives and ATWT producers/writers. CBS Contacts: http://noahandluke.com/support.html CBS Online Feedback: http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.shtml 4. Publicize the campaign broadly to media and organizations. Owners: ??? Let's broaden the campaign to media, soap magazines, organizations, and web sites that would be supportive. This might even get Luke and Noah's story a bit of coverage by the mainstream media. If you participate in related web sites, you might spread the word about Luke and Noah and the current situation. Contact Information: (courtesy of Rygel)
Call the ATWT comment line during the day and tell the person what you think of Luke and Noah's story and ask them to pass your feedback onto the producers. If you call after hours, you should ask the security person to redirect you to the ATWT comment line and leave a voice mail. It is more effective if you speak to a representative during the day. Phone: 718-780-6400* (JC Studios), 212-975-3247 (CBS), 718-780-7675 (ATWT) Hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (EST) * Ask for their ATWT comment line. 6. Publicize the campaign via the usual Nuke channels. Owners: Andy, Mark, ??? Andy and Mark plan to post a video on their channels. It'd be fantastic to get the international fan base in on this campaign. It'd be great if anyone else with a popular YouTube channel could host a video. It might be nice if one of us could create a video that other people can repost. YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEaSB2G0qqA (Andy's) YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mexrhdcFgvI (Mark's) In addition, you can spread the word about Luke's coming out story and Luke and Noah's story to friends and forums that you participate in.
Owner: Richard The web site for the Holiday Project was incredibly useful for publicizing it broadly, and thanks to Richard, we now have a similar page to summarize how people can support Luke and Noah. Please send him suggestions! Web Site: http://lukeandnoah.wetpaint.com/page/Support+Luke+and+Noah
Van and Jake would probably appreciate a quick note of support, as they work so hard to be true to Luke and Noah's story but the producers wreck it. Web Site: http://officialatwtfanclub.com/ (click on Cast Email) 9. Any other ideas?! Please post your ideas to this new thread or volunteer to drive a specific effort! |

Brilliant! Thanks John for outlining the wonderful ideas presented in the other thread and for compiling all the pertinent information we would need in order to take action... Perhaps this should be a "pinned" to the top of the first page?

Thanks John! As an activist that has done her share of writing for the Nuke cause - your info was spot on! I and my husband believe this is exactly what is needed, to encourage and inspire those members and lurkers who - want to do something - yet have difficulty getting started... I would also like to add here, that if anyone reading this post NEEDS help (or a kick to the seat of the pants) to get a letter started, drop me a pm! REMEMBER - your letter does not need to be long or filled with flowery words...you just need to get something on paper so your voice will be heard! |

I think letters from outside the US would be very valuable. Large companies like P&G operate worldwide, and it might help to remind them that some other countries are not as backwards as the US when it comes to things like homosexuality. To echo what Sage said for those who feel they don't know how to write a letter - just write what you feel. It doesn't have to be brilliant. It just has to say that this is important to you. That the story of Luke and Noah means a lot to you, and why you like it, and that you don't want to see it censored. You can do it! |

Some other friendly suggestions: Keep everything tactful. Keep Van and Jake's names totally out of it, do nothing to risk them getting any flack. Please consider NOT giving up on the show. Less viewers = less ratings (eventually) = bigger chance the show is cancelled = "they win anyway". |

I actually was working on setting up the petition last night when you were writing this. I checked into the two sites you mentioned, but, have a friend that has used both of those sites, as well as ipetitions.com (which is what I went with) and he said that he had the best experience with that site. I petition in support of Nuke As I said in the thread I started, we can adjust the wording of the statement if we think it is necessary after this weeks episodes. |

Whatever you need me to tell my subscribers, I'll do. I've already bugged them to vote in countless Nuke polls and I got a bunch of them to call the ATWT hotline last week in support of Nuke anyway. |

"I have a fan who puts pretty much every scene I'm in up on YouTube and I think people watch me on that. I watch on that!" ~ Van Hansis "I met the guy who puts it on and he's such a sweet guy. He came to the fan luncheon this past year and I really thank him so much for putting them on. It's really such a great way to see us if you've missed an episode and I think he's definitely part of the reason that we've gotten such a great response." ~ Jake Silbermann | |

Thanks, Andy! You're the best. I loved how you got your subscribers to flood the ATWT comment line. ![]() Is anyone willing to set up a web site on the campaign, along the lines of what we did for the holiday project? You might be able to use some of the text above as a starting point for the web site. |

Thanks for organizing things, John! It would be great if this thread could be pinned. Roger? Is that your department? ![]() I definitely want to emphasize that we don't want to mention that Van said anything. The last thing in the world I want to do is get him in trouble! We also really need to stress to everyone that it's the snail mail letter writing to P&G that will be the most effective. An online petition can't hurt, but they aren't really taken seriously since it's so easy to inflate the numbers. Taking the effort to actually write is much more meaningful to P&G. We know the haters will make the effort, so we have to, too. Also: In case we do want to do something in the future involving sending an object in, my friend had a fantastic idea: Hershey's Kisses. It's a positive message (we want more kissing because the storyline is so good), and people in the P&G office can also eat them. That way they theoretically won't be as annoyed as they might be receiving bars of soap. Just a thought. |

Great ideas! I'm gonna get started writing today! I say let's keep the letters positive and thank them for the good things (bringing us a great story with two great actors). Then they'll be more receptive to our requests! One other thing: wouldn't some more affectionate hugs also make the story better? I'm thinking of requesting that, too, because I think it would really add to it if they would have a warm embrace or two at appropriate times . . . |

Another thought: P & G deserves thanks for helping bring this story to the air. So, when I recmommend thanking them, I mean it in a sincere way. When we thank them, I think we can be genuine in doing so, not just as a method to try to get what we want! |

Thanks John for starting this in such a positive way! With these letters we have a chance to ask for more air time, in addition to the already stated concerns, right? I also recommend sending the writers a letter (if they are allowed to read mail while on strike) to ask them to continue the good work, because, if our boys do get more story line, then we want them to maintain the high quality, right? |

Thanks for getting this organized John. I love all the suggestions so far and I think we can really do this. I have faith that we can give Nuke the support they need hands down. Sage I may be sending you a pm to get letter help because I know what to say just not how to say it without sounding off? well yeah I will pm you. You know speaking of hugs, we could send hershey's kisses and hershey's hugs too. kinda just to say hugs are nice hugs are good a little affection but not too much...a nice medium. anyway I am excited to get going on this. going to make sure i sign the petition. and if there is anything more i can do tell me i would be willing to help anyway i can

OK, I've set up a page on the Luke and Noah Wiki called Support Luke and Noah. Right now it focuses on tips for letter writing and includes a link to a list of P&G products that people can reference to write their letters. Would you all take a look and offer your suggestions? I think it would be good to add sub-pages with sample letters in the future. What do others think? |

Anyone who wants to repeat all or part of my post in any Luke/Noah forum, feel free to do so. I'm not saying I know it all (far from it), but if it can help folks get started, I'm all for sharing. I've been involved in fandom stuff for over 15 years now, and have watched many campaigns come and go, so I've picked up a lot of "do's and don'ts" from various sources. |
